In vitro testing

Why?

All of the Members of the Evic International group are directly concerned by this field of investigation intimately related to their sphere of competences. In vitro tests are not only an essential part of the global evaluation of raw materials and industrial products, but also a necessary prerequisite to the execution of studies on alive materials.

As far as toxicological exploration is concerned, the recourse to in vitro methods is too recent to have a proper view on their performance, except for mutagenicity research for which experimental models have for long been set up. Hence the importance of using only experimental models duly validated or with enough acquired experience to be considered as such.

How?

Our group entrusts the performance of these tests to its highly specialised teams, allowing them to progressively constitute solid and predicting databases. Therefore, they participate actively to the development and the validation of the most appropriate models intended to replace animal experimentation.

A whole set of simplifying methods must be implemented to obtain the same level of information provided before by a single in vivo model. The choice of tests must be done not only in accordance with the objective of the investigation but also with the characteristics of the assay substance.
These experimental models refer to cell culture, organotypic supports, and more complex systems such as reconstructed skin.

Our Offer

Regarding toxicological evaluation, our teams, in connection with the authorities in charge of the validation and recognition of experimental models, focused so far on models to study local tolerance, cytotoxicity, allergenicity and mutagenicity.

On the pharmacological evaluation side, taking into particular consideration the ability of in vitro models to explore mechanisms of action, our researchers developed experimental models capable to demonstrate the activity of cosmetic products. These techniques often can be extended to other fields of activity.

Ecotoxicity tests, and other studies not feasible in our facilities, are subcontracted thanks to our wide network of partners duly accredited.
